About those "I've applied to 5,000 jobs" posts you see 🙄

Sorry but I’m not buying these stories from folks who say over the past few months they’ve applied to FIVE THOUSAND jobs and have done it in a fully customized, well-researched way.
Just quick back-of-the-napkin math, if over a period of 180 days (6 months) you applied to 5,000 jobs, that’s literally 27 job applications a day. If you go nonstop for 8 hours a day, that’s 3 applications per hour, or 20 minutes per application.
Sorry my dude, but you’re not doing “well-researched and tailored” applications in 20 minutes. Even if you spread that math out over a year, that’s still like 13 applications a day. You’re not tailoring, you’re spamming.
Probably the better question for these folks is how much time are you spending writing BS LinkedIn content to get clicks instead of actually focusing on high quality applications and building meaningful connections?
